March 5, 2026 - SKa Round Table - Housing fraud for housing associations
On Thursday, March 5, 2026, we are organizing an SKa Round Table on housing fraud for housing associations. We would like to invite you to take a seat at our Round Table to catch up and discuss current challenges surrounding this topic.
There is considerable pressure on the (social) rental housing market. Scarcity, rising rents, and long waiting lists make social housing vulnerable to abuse. In this context, housing fraud is on the rise: from vacancy and illegal subletting to providing false information in order to obtain a home. In addition, it is no longer unusual for social housing to be misused for criminal activities such as prostitution or trafficking in violation of the Opium Act. This not only undermines the position of house hunters, but also affects the quality of life.
This round table is specifically intended for employees of housing associations who deal with (suspected) housing fraud in their daily practice, such as employees working in housing, quality of life, rentals, and legal policy. With the right legal insights and practical experience, housing fraud can be tackled in a targeted manner, without losing sight of the legal protection of tenants.
During this round table discussion, we would like to talk to you about this and offer you the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with colleagues from other housing associations. Participation is free of charge.
During the Round Table, we will bring you up to date and would be happy to exchange ideas with you on topics such as:
- what options you have as a housing association in cases of (suspected) housing fraud;
- how housing fraud can be detected;
- how to build a careful and legally sound case file;
- how and under what conditions information can be obtained from other parties, such as the municipality or police;
- when it is appropriate to issue a warning and when termination of the lease agreement may be considered.
