Gijs van Midden as of Oct. 15 partner
Gijs van Midden joins the partner group of Straatman Koster advocaten as of October 15, 2025. His appointment will strengthen our practice in the areas of EU law, state aid and energy law.
Gijs has worked at Straatman Koster since December 2024, having previously worked at Pels Rijcken and the Council of State, among others. As an all-round EU lawyer, he is at home in the broad field of European law, with particular expertise in energy and state aid law. Gijs assists governments and companies in complex energy dossiers, from regulatory issues and grid congestion solutions to setting up energy partnerships, such as e-hubs. He also advises on state aid issues in areas such as housing construction, heat transition and sustainability, setting up financing and subsidy schemes and public-private partnerships.
Gijs on his appointment: "I am delighted to be able to take this step and build on Straatman Koster's fine practice from this new role. In the areas of energy and state aid, many challenges are coming up for our clients and there will be a lot of work to do. I look forward to assisting them in this with practical and robust solutions."
We are delighted with Gijs' appointment and look forward to continued cooperation. With his broad experience in governments and the energy sector, he brings valuable knowledge and energy to our team.
